Turning 60 is a milestone - let's celebrate with friends, family, and of course, our furry friends!5/10/2024
Well, our Steinunn does it differently! For her 50th birthday, she rode across Iceland with friends and family, a journey that took 19 days, starting from Fontur Lighthouse on the Langanes Peninsula in northeast Iceland to Reykjanes Lighthouse in the southwest. Making happy memoriesFor her 60th birthday, she had another plan! Being an avid supporter of the local riding club Sóti on the Álftanes peninsula, her beautiful home, she organized a special competition for "riders of the best age," which includes riders aged 60 and older and their grandchildren. On May 1st, which is also the official Icelandic day dedicated to the Icelandic Horse, and in beautiful spring weather, a cheerful crowd filled the competition area of Sóti Riding Club. They enjoyed light refreshments and cheered on the stately horsemen and their grandchildren. Happy faces could be seen everywhere, marking a great start to the upcoming competition season. Steinunn couldn’t have chosen a better way to celebrate her special day, and guests agreed this should become an annual event called “Pollamót,”where young and elderly come together to celebrate friendship and the Icelandic horse!Celebrating a 60th birthday is about enjoying every moment surrounded by those who mean the most to you. It’s a time to cherish each other and the love for our horses that binds us together. No doubt, this summer Steinunn, Lóa, and Ari will meet again with old and new friends as they tölt away on horse riding tours with hotel accommodation in Iceland's beautiful nature--riding the rift valley, along sandy beaches, and on trails with glacier views in Húsafell Nature Reserve.Come and join them—we look forward to welcoming you!
