Safety vests on our riding tours

About 30 years ago many people did not ride with a helmet. But luckily that has changed, nowadays people are thinking more and more about their own safety and well-being.It is fundamental to feel safe when you are riding, especially when you’re riding new horses.

​For many years Exploring Iceland has offered hotel riding tours with small groups in many beautiful areas in Iceland.

From summer 2024 we proudly offer safety vests in addition to safety helmets for our guests on our riding tours. Wearing a helmet and a safety vest is a crucial step in minimizing the risks associated with horseback riding. Accidents can happen even with our well-trained and calm horses, as animal behavior can be unpredictable, and various factors can influence their reactions.

We offer our guests the possibility to rent the Helite Air-jacket for protection on our signature Exploring Iceland hotel riding tours. The Air-jacket is adjustable so that it can be worn over any clothing. It is designed for all body types, from children (min. 35 kg) to full adult sizes. The air-jacket comes in different sizes and is unisex.

​The Air-jacket is a comfortable, reliable, simple, and relies on a robust system. The rider attaches the lanyard to a y- shaped saddle strap. In case of fall, the key-ball separates from the airbag which triggers the system. The airbag inflates when a rider falls from the horse and protects the rider from serious injury. The Air-jacket offers great protection as it stabilizes the body from the neck to the sacrum to prevent injury.
