True highland riding experience in South Iceland
This tour is suited perfectly for all of those who do want to go on an authentic highland ride up into the mountains with a free running herd but shy away from big groups! This very personal riding tour with max. 12 guests takes you into the breathtaking landscape around Three-Peaks- Mountain in South Iceland. All transfers from and to Reykjavík included. Riding on secluded trails through lava, wild rivers and with beautiful glacier views, you will surely get the true Icelandic Mountain feeling! Accommodation in the mountains in cozy Foss Mountain Hut located next to river Eystri Rangá and north of the famous Fljótshlíð Valley which you will be exploring on horseback. Here, Gunnar Hámundarson, a 10th-century Icelandic Saga hero, lived at Hlíðarendi. He features prominently in the first half of the famous Njáls Saga, which tells of the chain of events ultimately leading to his death in battle. Learn about volcanoes, glacier and the fascinating old stories from your hosts Róbert and Eyja, who will take you on their horses into the wild outback of South Iceland! Discover the wild country east of glacier Tindfjallajökull, home to a dormant volcano, while enjoying fast rides in tölt, the famous soft gait of the Icelandic horse. |
