If you would like to explore Iceland by car and in the saddle, this tour would be ideal for you! Here we are combining a typical self-drive tour with short rides in Iceland´s breathtaking countryside! Please note that this tour is just an example! Accommodation and number of rides can be adjusted to your wishes! This tour can be done all year round. During wintertime, rides would be max. 2 hours each. |

Ride & Explore – the best of two worlds!
Day 1 Arrival Day
Arrival at Keflavík International Airport. Pick up rental car and drive to your beautiful Country Hotel on the outskirts of Reykjavík. Enjoy great views from the hot tub on the large veranda with incredible views over the mountains and Lake Elliðavatn. Two nights at the Country Hotel.
Optional: Visit the Blue Lagoon on your way from the airport to Reykjavík
Day 2 Riding through Heiðmörk Nature Reserve & Sky Lagoon
Start the day with a short ride through volcanic landscape as you ride past Pseudocraters and through Heiðmörk Nature Reserve to get to know the wonderfully smooth tölt of the incredible sure-footed Icelandic Horses. In the afternoon enjoy the Sky Lagoon for a relaxing bath.
Optional: Add a whale watching tour or a Reykjavík Food Walk.
Day 3 Exploring the Golden Circle
Today you will be exploring the famous Golden Circle with Nationalpark Þingvellir, Geyser Strokkur and mesmerizing waterfalls Gullfoss and Faxi. Find out how Icelanders bake their bread in the hot earth or visit Friðheimar Greenhouse Restaurant for lunch. In the evening check into your beautiful self- catering cottage at a famous breeding farm for two nights.
Optional: Visit the Secret Lagoon or Fontana SPA with rye bread experience on route.
Day 4 Dayride underneath Mt Hekla
Spend the whole day in the saddle on a private ride for you and your fellow travellers. You will ride over rivers and have wonderful riding paths with breathtaking views of the volcano Hekla, of Eyjafjallajökull glacier and the river Rangá. The landscape is very diverse, ranging from an Icelandic Forest to rough lava fields and soft grassy meadows. You will be riding through landscape that has been shaped by the lava and ashes from previous volcanic eruptions.

Day 5 South Shore to Vík
Back in the car to spend the day along the South Shore of Iceland, visiting more waterfalls, a glacier lagoon, black lava beaches and the beautiful puffins (only during summer). You might want to explore the past in the charming Turfhouse Museum in Skógar og learn about the seismic activity in Iceland!
Optional: Join a short ride on the black lava beach with incredible views over mountains and ocean!
Day 6 Trailride (Riding lesson) in West Iceland
Today you are going West! In the beautiful Borgarnes area you are checking into your guesthouse on a famous breeding farm and training stable. Enjoy a trail ride or professional private riding lesson and explore if you like the many wonderful sights in the area such as Hraunfossar Waterfalls and the lovely Krauma SPA.
Day 7 Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Today´s route takes you once around the beautiful Peninsula of Snæfellsnes with its everchanging landscape. Visit seal colonies, rugged coastline, charming fishing villages and beautiful pebble beaches underneath Snæfellsjökull glacier.
Optional: Join a boat tour into the skerries of Breiðafjörður and/or visit a lava tunnel on a guided tour.
Day 8 Riding and Hvammsvík Sea Baths
Back to Reykjavík via the scenic Hvalfjörður Fjord. Enjoy another short ride in the ever-changing landscape and a bath in the Hvammsvík Sea baths! Stay the night in downtown Reykjavík to enjoy a great farewell dinner in the vibrant capital!
Day 9 Departure Day
Drive back to Keflavík Airport, drop off your car and have a safe flight home.
