Exploring Iceland is an Icelandic Tour Operator selling Iceland as a destination.
Anything from a short stop-over visit to extended tours around Iceland, from relaxed family holidays to specialized activities like hiking or horseback riding in the Icelandic highland.
We offer programs for groups of all sizes and individuals in Iceland.
Exploring Iceland is fully certified by the Icelandic Tourist Board and a member of the Responsible Tourism Project of the Iceland Tourism Cluster.
Exploring Iceland has set up a safety plan according to Act No. 96/2018 on the Icelandic Tourist Board. Our safety plan consist of the following four parts; risk assessment, rules on work procedures, contingency plan and incident report.
From the early beginning of our operation we have set ourselves ambitious goals when it comes to protecting the environment, fair trade and animal welfare.

Meet the team
Steinunn Guðbjörnsdóttir
Steinunn has over 30 years of experience as a local travel agent. Having worked for some renown Icelandic Tour Operators she has gained vast experience in all aspects of Icelandic Tourism as well as being a certified guide.
She loves to travel in Iceland and has spent all her vacations in her favorite country, Iceland, either on a family camping tour in the highlands or on a horse riding tour.
She is a keen photographer and cannot imagine life without dogs and horses.

Meike Erika Witt Pétursdóttir
Meike has over 30 years experience in Icelandic Tourism. She is a Travel consultant, certified Tour Guide and a member of ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association.
She is a certified Wilderness First Responder. She is also a founding member of Animal Welfare in Iceland, a NGO. Meike has been travelling the Icelandic highland for over thirty years on foot and horseback.
She lives with her family and lots of animals on a farm in the countryside in South Iceland.

Margrét Lóa Björnsdóttir
Lóa is the newest and youngest member of the Exploring Iceland team.
She has been one of our guides on the horse riding tours for many years and is a vivid horse lover.
She studied graphic media and has now taken charge of social media, website, advertisements etc for Exploring Iceland.
Her dream is to travel the world and to try riding all kinds of horse breeds.
