With small groups and our wonderful guides we make sure you leave Iceland with good memories and longing to come back to see your Icelandic friends again.

​We know the key to a great tour is the guide/tourleader and we are very proud of all our professional, fun and knowledgeable guides! 

​Their passion for their homeland shines through as they lead travelers through rugged terrains, majestic waterfalls, and otherworldly landscapes, sharing insider tips and insights along the way.

Steinunn Guðbjörnsdóttir

​Steinunn or Steina has over 30 years of experience as a local travel agent. Having worked for some renown Icelandic Tour Operators she has gained vast experience in all aspects of Icelandic Tourism as well as being a certified guide.

 

She loves to travel in Iceland and has spent all her vacations in her favorite country, either on a family camping tour in the highlands or on a horse riding tour.

Meike Erika Witt Pétursdóttir

Born in 1970, she studied German studies and Icelandic at the University of Iceland.

In 2002, she also obtained her tour guide certification and has since enthusiastically guided foreign groups through Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes.

She is a member of ICE-SAR, the Icelandic search and rescue organization, and a certified Wilderness First Responder.

Vala Hafstað

After living in the US for decades, Vala moved back to Iceland several years ago.

She loves meeting new people, telling stories, playing with words, and pointing out the humorous side of things.

​Among her favorite subjects are the peculiarities of Icelandic society. She’s a certified guide, a journalist, and a poet.

Erla Björg Arnardóttir

​Erla is a professional tourist guide (Iceland Tourist Guide Association) and a keen gardener.

She knows her ways around the highland and is not afraid of driving a super truck or really any other kind of vehicle! She loves to sing, has a brilliant sense of humour and loves to explore he Icelandic outdoors with our guests, friends and family.

Hanna Kristin

Hanna is a country girl from the north of Iceland, Akureyri but moved to Reykjavík when she was 20. Hanna has always been in the travel business, first working for travel agencies over 25 years, both incoming and outgoing.

 

Hanna is friendly, energetic, outgoing, extrovert that loves meeting new people and show them around her beautiful country.

Dóróthea Siglaugsdóttir

Many Icelanders a fairly flexible when it comes to profession and I am no exception. During winter I teach Icelandic to students from the age of sixteen at a secondary school in Reykjavík.

In Iceland the summer vacation for secondary teachers and students alike is three months and for the past roughly twenty years, graduating from the guide school in 2000, I have been spending my summers guiding English-speaking visitors to Iceland around the country.

Ágúst S. Harðarson ​

Gusti has been with Exploring Iceland since it was founded. 

He is an Explore award winning guide and is much loved by our guests.  Gusti is easy going guy who always want to do his best for our guests.

He is from Dalir district in West Iceland where people are known for enjoying life at the fulliest.

Úlfar Snær

Úlfar is a professional tourist guide (Iceland Tourist Guide Association) and teacher of Icelandic studies.

He loves the outdoors and spends all his free time hiking and mountain biking in Iceland's amazing nature. 

​As an avid traveller himself, Úlfar understands that exploring a new destination is about both the nature and the culture defining the Icelandic nation. Without a doubt, he will give you fascinating insights into the Icelandic way of living in the past and modern world.

Einar Þorsteinsson

Since I was a young boy I have travelled all over Iceland many times and know nothing better than traveling around the Icelandic countryside to recharge my mind and body. 

After decades of working in Business Management I have decided to change profession to be able to combine my passion for traveling in Iceland and working with People.
I believe that beeing a Tour Guide in Iceland is the answer.​
