Meet our
horses & guides
Here is a overlook about our horses that we use on our horse riding tours. They are owned by Steinunn, Ari & Lóa and they are training them and caring for them all year around.

Meet the Riding Team
These will be the guides on the Tölt With Glacier View tour, Riding the Rift Valley tour and Hekla Hideaway tour

Steinunn Guðbjörnsdóttir
Steinunn or Steina bought her first horse at the age of 16 and has been smitten by the „horse bug“ ever since. By now she owns about 14 horses, some of her own breeding.
She celebrated her 50th birthday by riding across Iceland, 715 km in 19 days, with Ari and Lóa. She is also a keen horse photo grapher and plays an accordion.
Steina decided to use the COVID time to go to the Icelandic guiding school so now she is a certificate driver/guide.She has also finished the “Reiðmaðurinn” riding course (3 yrs) from the agricultural University and many other riding courses. She likes horses with a character, with good tölt and good temperament.
Her horses are usually the easy ones. She has 3 grown up children and Lóa is her youngest and only one in the family who is riding with her.

Margrét Lóa Björnsdóttir
Lóa is Steinunn’s daughter. She started riding when she was 5 years old and has been riding ever since.
She has been traveling on horses with Steina & Ari since she was 10 years old and that is her favourite thing to do in the summer.
Lóa has been on numerous riding classes, she has also competed many times at Landsmót (National Competition in Iceland) on Breki, her all time favourite horse.
She had a child in November 2026 so we are not sure how much she will be on the riding tours in 2027.
She loves horses that can pace and have big characters.

Ari Sigurðsson
Ari started riding at a young age with his father. Horse riding is his favourite thing to do after work and he is the main guy to come to for a coffee in his riding club.
He is very helpful and is always there for the riders. Ari is hardworking and likes to have things in order. You will often see him in the front of the line because he always knows the right way. Steinunn and Lóa would totally be lost without him. He might be rough on the outside but he has a heart of gold.
He has also finished the “Reiðmaðurinn” riding course from the Agricultural University as many other riding courses. He occasionally compete as well.
He has 2 grown up children but they are not riding with him so one can say that Steina and Lóa are his “horse-family”.
His favorite horses are those who are cooperative to run after the loose herd.
