Horse Riding Tours
in Winter

 Wonderful Winter Rides

Usually if you think of horseback riding in Iceland, you probably have the image of trail rides across the highland during summertime in mind. But equestrian sports are not all limited to the summer months in Iceland! In fact the main training season in Iceland for young horses is during the winter time, from December to June.
So why not join the Icelanders on their regular winter rides?  Horseback riding is a national sport in Iceland. Most Icelandic families have at least one horse enthusiast among them and the riding trail system between the local riding clubs in and around Reykjavík is spectacular! Soft and firm trails through beautiful volcanic landscape are kept accessible all year long, some are even equipped with floodlight for the winter to give people a chance for a quick tölt after work.
Add first class competition facilities and Icelandic Horse Life becomes a true joy –
even during the dark and sometimes cold and windy days of winter.

Naturally we cannot offer any trail rides for the winter season but we are happy to tailor a special winter program for you.
You could for example join local horsewoman Steinunn for a visit to a local horse breeder or a local competition,
improve your riding skills with professional trainers
and get to know the fascinating trail network right outside the city limits on shorter day rides!

Through in a cozy and lovely Icelandic hotel, the brand new Sky Lagoon
and you have the perfect winter getaway for horse lovers!

Non-riding guests are welcome and can join optional day tours from the hotel.
Although we cannot guarantee the Northern Lights - they will definitely be an unforgettable experience!

Contact us for a tailor made offer and we will be happy to set up your perfect winter riding adventure!
