our favorite whale watching tours

whale watching from reykjavik - all year

The tour commences at our ticket office by the Ægisgarður pier in the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik where you can buy tickets or exchange a voucher for a prepaid trip. A guide will meet you in the Whale Watching Centre, which is facilitated on board an old fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. Before or after the tour you can enjoy the onboard multimedia show that includes images, videos and facts about the whales and marine life.
Summer season is great for whale watching, as the wildlife in the bay is at its highest peak. This is the time when the minke whales are at their most abundant, along with the white-beaked dolphins, harbour porpoises and humpback whales, giving us the chance to enjoy and understand them in their natural environment.

whale watching from olafsvik - all year

Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see two of the ocean's top predators, sperm whales and orcas,  than along the Snæfellsnes Peninsula coastline.  The orcas are more often seen early in the summer, during May and June but there is a chance of seeing them all the way through the summer months. Male sperm whales can be seen all the way through the summer season in deeper water. We also regularly see Minke whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. Other possible whale sightings include sei, blue, fin and humpback, who tend to be migrating past the peninsula early in the summer and pilot whales who can be seen at any time.  The landscape is magnificent around the Glacier and even more so from sea.  The Snæfellsjökull Glacier rises majestically into view from wherever you are on the ocean, competing with the wonderful sight of whales and dolphins.
Svörtuloft, Öndverðarnes, Keflavík and Skarðsvík are the areas of the National Park coastline we will sail around in search of these magnificent. Please note the tour is different in winter season.
