Winter Riding Adventure
in Skagafjörður - North Iceland
Dates 2021
For private groups only
February & March
Min: 4 riders / Max: 8 riders
Have you ever dreamed of speed tölt and flying pace on ice?
Now you have the opportunity to join our partners Ingólfur and Unnur Erla at their farm Dýrfinnustaðir, home to the famous stallion Hágangur frá Narfastöðum. Their farm lies above the Héraðvötn, a lake like river formed by the glacial rivers Austari- and Vestari Jökulsá. In February and March these rivers are frozen solid and riding on ice – sometimes even in moonlight and under the Northern Lights is an experience of a lifetime. This is also the time when the farmers train their young horses and the stables are filled with promising youngsters. We ride to the neighboring farms over the ice for a chat over horses, some of them might even join us on our way home and we can go for some serious speed tölt competition with the locals! Enjoy the famous hospitality of the Skagafjörður people and ride, eat, sing and party with us! This tour is only recommended for experienced riders that feel comfortable riding in all gaits over rough terrain. Ideal for those that already have some tölt and pace experience and want to try out these amazing gaits on very different grounds. |
