Cave Tours in Iceland

Our hand-picked Caving trips

Iceland is for sure a land of contrast in nature. We are not sure if you experience in many countries;
a) Go Into a glacier b)  See inside a volcano
c) Take a walk into a lava tunnel  d) Visit stunning ice caves
Which would be your favorite?

Into the Glacier Langjökull

Book below the tour only or from Húsafell
On this day tour from Reykjavik we take you to explore around, on and within, the giant, 953sq/km glacier, with a bonus visits en-route to the glacier: Hraunfossar, a spectacular waterfall,  Kaldidalur, a highland track and Tingvellir, the beautiful national park with amazing scenery, to give you a truly memorable day. Lunch stop at Husafell ( where you will have the opportunity to buy lunch).

We reserve the right to change the itinerary and the mode of transport / cancel the trip, according to weather or road conditions, or circumstances beyond our control. In the winter time the duration of the tours may vary according to weather and road conditions.
Book below a day tour from Reykjavik

Inside the volcano

INCLUDED:
  • Pick-up at your hotel in Reykjavik.
  • All safety gear, helmets, harnesses, etc.
  • Small groups, plenty of guides = personal experience.
  • Volcano tour of a lifetime.
  • Traditional Icelandic meat soup, coffee/tea and perhaps some sweets as well. Vegetarians will have alternatives.
  • Transfer back to your hotel in Reykjavik

BRING WITH YOU:
  • Good (hiking) shoes – if you have them. We don’t recommend sneakers, they will definitely get dirty and may get punctures.
  • Outdoor clothing. The weather in the mountains can be very different to the city. A warm sweater and jacket are very useful, not least because it’s always the same temperature inside the crater – about 5–6°C (42–43°F). That’s cold!
  • A camera. You will want to remember this trip. Yes, you can take as many pictures as you want!
  • A good spirit. This tour is all about having fun.
The tour gives you the chance to enjoy many of the most amazing things Iceland has to offer – a great mixture of nature, history and adventure. The whole program takes about 5–6 hours.

You will be picked up at your hotel and the drive takes about 30 min. Please note from the parking place there is a 40-50 min hike to get to the crater before we descend 120 meters/400 feet to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift.

Operation dates: From 15 May –  15 October
Tour departures: Several departures every day. The first tour at 8:00 and the last tour in the afternoon.
Duration: 5–6 hours (about 35-40 minutes inside the volcano).
Fitness level needed: Moderate (the difficulty is 2 out of a possible 5). No knowledge of hiking or climbing is required. It’s not an uphill walk, but the surface is partly uneven. This is NOT a tour for those in no or limited physical shape.
Distance walked: Approximately 3 km (2 miles) each way. The walk usually takes around 45–50 minutes (depending on the condition of people in the group). A guide will be with you at all times during the walk.
Minimum age limit: 12 years (we can and have made exceptions on the age. Contact us if you want to convince us that your kid is up for adventure).
Price: ISK 42.000.
