The topic of my thesis is “Regenerative Tourism: Between Theoretical Ideals and Implementation Possibilities.” This research has given me the opportunity to speak with various professionals working in the field of sustainable tourism, as well as individuals who are actively trying to develop tourism in alternative directions, particularly through regenerative tourism approaches.
As part of this research, Exploring Iceland kindly agreed to participate in an interview to discuss regenerative tourism and their work in this area. The interview provided valuable insights into how a destination such as Iceland addresses tourism development, which geographical aspects are taken into consideration, and how these influence tourism strategies in the country. These perspectives are particularly relevant to my thesis, which focuses on the question of how regenerative tourism can be implemented in practice.
