This tour is made for mountain bike lovers who expect a real challenge and who want to experience natural wonders and incredible geology.This is an intermediate mountain bike tour in the breathtaking landscape of Iceland for five days!
We explore a conservation area in the central highlands of South Iceland, called "Fjallabak“ or, in English, "Behind the Mountains“. This area is one of the largest geothermal areas in the world and is framed in by glaciers and volcanoes, making this a place of great contrast. We ride on a highland route that is considered to be one of the most spectacular in the world consisting of landscapes in which words can hardly describe. We will explore well known attractions during the tour such as mt. Hekla, Eldgjá, Strútur,Thorsmork and Landmannalaugar where you can relax in a warm natural pool. The biking is mostly on gravel roads and dirt tracks with many unbridged rivers and streams to be crossed. This tour requires fitness and some mountain-biking experience but not much technical skill, making it ideal for most mountain bikers on their first visit to Iceland. Departure every Monday from the 20th of July to the 31st of August. |
